This is way to many things going on here for a kid to deal with being that it is a kids site.
The index page looks good but type is really hard on the eyes and when you navigate through the site it seems just to get to flashy and dis aligned in some areas.
Now this is an outdoors site... It is my opinion that the outdoors should be represent with settle colors like earth browns, greens, red, etc.
This site negative space is not being used appropriately.
Too much going on in the background and the header text is overly exaggerated, some flashy little lines going on constantly, and hard to read. Awful site for an animal site.

I posted a list of things to do but here - we go. this is a great beginning but you need to follow the steps of the assignments as well. You are really working on getting your designs and skills up to a professional standard. Now on your blog I want to see a documentation of your process - this will help you in the end - others need and want to know your process - the wireframe, the site structure (flow Chart)- the changes in your design as you progress - 3 designs please -
